Learn about the functions of the Australian diplomatic service and contribute to the promotion of Australia and its interests through an internship at the Embassy in Rome.

Activities

  • assisting in the organisation of public diplomacy events
  • undertaking research and drafting reports on political and economic developments in Italy
  • note-taking at international meetings
  • assisting with social media

When

  • offered all year round
  • minimum of four weeks

Prerequisites

  • high level of English and Italian

Media

The Florentine, Florence

Gain experience as an editorial assistant at The Florentine, the English news magazine in Florence.

Activities

  • copyediting and proofreading
  • researching news
  • interviewing and writing
  • translating in English and reporting news taken from Italian primary sources
  • attending press conferences and events

When

  • September to November
  • two months preferred

Prerequisites

  • intermediate to advanced Italian
  • previous journalistic experience

Legal

Studio Legale Delfino e Associati Willkie Farr & Gallagher LLP, Rome

Learn about the practices and activities of a highly specialised and international law firm with offices in Rome and Milan, whose commercial lawyers assist corporate domestic and international clients in large domestic and cross-border transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, business restructuring and commercial litigation.

Activities

  • reviewing contracts, due diligence reports and other legal documents in English, including analysing specific legal issues
  • attending and taking notes at meetings and conference calls in English
  • learning about the Italian court system by attending high court hearings under the guidance of Italian lawyers
  • assisting in business development activities, including attending meetings and events involving the Australian business community in Italy

When

  • spring (March to May) and autumn (September to November)
  • minimum four weeks

Prerequisites

  • final year law student with a strong academic record
  • knowledge of Italian is desirable but not essential (most of the work is in English)
