Thursday 24 September 2015 | Monash Open Day, Prato (Italy)
From Tuesday 22 to Friday 25 September 2015 | Prato Campus Week

Public forum, sport, live music, bbq, and much more!

Public forum, speedy conversation exchange, a free barbeque, 5-side soccer, archery, live music – there is something for everyone during PCW 2015 when the city’s three universities join forces to co-organise 4 days of events from 22-25 September. Download the official program, visit the website or watch the promo video.

If you’re a newly arrived student to Monash Prato, PCW is the perfect opportunity to meet other students studying in this small but thriving Tuscan city.  Practice your newly acquired Italian conversation skills with the locals or put your volunteering skills to use.

Register your participation now!

Speedy Conversation Exchange

After the overwhelming success of the last edition, Speedy Conversation Exchange returns for Open Day 2015. The Salone Grollo, the Centre’s ‘aula magna’, will be transformed into rows of tables and chairs to facilitate regular rotation between participants. Specific topics will be screened overhead to ensure you’ll never be short of conversation. Door prizes to be won and friends to be made! Speedy Conversation will be on Thursday 24 September at 5.30pm, sign up by completing the form on this page.

Did you know that the Black Box Flight Recorder is a Melbourne invention, while the Bionic Eye was invented by the Monash Vision Group? Discover more about Melbourne design and innovation from the past 150 years at this interactive exhibition during Open Day.  Curated by Ian Wong, lecturer for MADA (Monash’s Faculty of Art Design and Architecture) and President of the Melbourne Movement, the BlackBOX exhibition arrives in Prato after touring Milan (as part of World Expo 2015) and Shanghai.  A selection of the original 64 works will be exhibited in a representational 'black box' format during Open Day, whereby their image and description appear by hovering a smartphone device over one of the corresponding boxes positioned in a room layout mirroring Melbourne’s Hoddle Grid.

Laresa Kosloff, 2015 Visual Resident Artist

At Open Day meet Laresa Kosloff, the 2015 Visual Resident Artist at the Monash Prato Centre.

Laresa Kosloff makes performative videos, Super 8 films, hand drawn animations, sculpture, installations and live performance works. Her practice examines various representational strategies, each one linked by an interest in the body and its agency within the everyday. Laresa's practice is performance-based.

Through use of video and installation, during her Prato residency she will seek to explore the psychology of formalism and placement from a humanist perspective.

Laresa would like to speak with students and visitors to Open Day as part of her research, so don’t be shy and seek her out!

Open Day would not be possible without the generous contribution and support of our sponsors.  The Monash University Prato Centre would like to acknowledge and thank each and every one of them listed below.
