Monash Open Day 2018 - thank you Prato

With our annual Open Day concluded, we would like to take a moment to say Thanks.

The 8th edition of our annual Open Day held on Thursday 19 April was a resounding success thanks to the participation of hundreds of students and local visitors who visited the Centre from 5pm into the late evening.

Testimony of the overwhelming response was the first time 'sell-out' of events requiring pre-registration, including Speedy Conversation Exchange, tours of Palazzo Vaj and the Kids' Corner, as well as the record contribution of volunteers and sponsors; year after year local businesses and institutions make possible not only our Open Day acitivities including the traditional Aussie barbeque, but also the Centre's day to day operations which rely on good working relationships with the many hotels, restaurants, transportation providers, suppliers, schools, firms, museums, etc in Prato.  In fact, Open Day is a day of celebration to acknowledge the reciprocal benefits of the many interactions between the city and Monash.

During Open Day, locals have the chance to learn about and sign up to our community engagement activities such as Conversation Exchange, Buon Appetito! and Homestays.  An information desk on Studying in Australia for the first time featured representatives from the University of Florence, a long-standing exchange partner, who were able to give direct advice to Italian students on how to apply.  Monash Law students, who were studying at the Centre at the time, generously gave their time to as volunteers, and even had their chance at fame with live-broadcasted interviews on TV Prato.

Thank you Prato for making Open Day a success!
