Applications open for The Monash ACIS Postdoctoral Fellowship

The Monash University Prato Centre, and the School of Languages, Literatures, Cultures and Linguistics at Monash University, Melbourne, are seeking to appoint a two-year Postdoctoral Fellow.

Suitable candidates must have been awarded their PhD from an Australian or New Zealand University after the 1st of January 2012, in any area of Italian Studies, and be either citizens or permanent residents of Australia or New Zealand. Graduates currently living in Australia under the Temporary Graduate Visa (485) will also be considered.

The ideal candidate will have a PhD and a strong research record at the intersection of Italian studies, migration studies, and/or participatory action research. The successful applicant will be expected to contribute actively to the design and coordination of participatory action research projects, such as hackathons, digital storytelling, citizen media practices. A strong focus on transcultural practices, policy-oriented research, and/or community engagement will be an advantage.

The position will be based at the Monash Prato Centre, in Italy, where most of the participatory research and community engagement will take place. However, the selected candidate will also be required to spend time in Melbourne (Australia), and develop a close collaboration with scholars working in Italian Studies and within the Monash Intercultural Lab and the Population, Migration and Social Inclusion Focus Program. Further travel within Italy and internationally may be required.

Accommodation will be provided at the Monash Prato Centre for the duration of the fellowship.
