Despite the heat, studying in Prato has never been so cool!

June ended with the last classes of the 2019 Prato Law program.

For three months,184 law students from six different countries (Australia, Israel, Canada, France, United States and India) studied together in Prato, enhancing their knowledge of international humanitarian law, European human rights, international refugee law, among other subjects.

The Future of the Practice of Law

Open Day Thank You!

Despite the threat of rain and thunderstorms, the 7th edition of Prato Campus Week and our annual Open Day held on Thursday 11 April was a resounding success.

Hundreds of students and local visitors participated in Open Day, visiting the Centre from 5pm into the late evening.

Prato Campus Week - Visit us 10-12 April

One city, three universities, and three days of events open to the local community.

The seventh edition of Prato Campus Week takes place 10-12 April this year.

The week is an opportunity for students and locals to meet and learn more about the university student experience in Prato. You will be able to join in sporting activities, conversation, tours, music, games and lots more!

This event is organised by Prato's three universities, PIN - Polo Universitario 'Città di Prato' (the Prato branch of the University of Florence), Monash University Prato Centre and University of New Haven, in collaboration with the Municipality of Prato.

GIG off the ground in Italy!

Move over MedRen month, 2019 is in full swing here at the Monash University Prato Centre.

Our programs have begun with the launch of the first-ever Global Immersion Guarantee program in Italy. Known as GIG for short, this is a funded overseas study experience for all Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Global Studies, and related double degree, students to China, India, Italy, Indonesia or Malaysia at the end of their first year of university.

MedRen month in Prato

The period from mid-November to mid-December is sometimes known as ‘MedRen month’ at the Monash Prato Centre.

It is at this time of year that Monash students and academics and postgraduates from Monash and partner universities of the Prato Consortium for Medieval and Renaissance Studies converge on the Centre to undertake several different activities in this area of teaching and research.

The EU’s crises have been grabbing global headlines for almost a decade. But where did these multi-dimensional crises come from? What caused them? What will they do to the EU and what made them a ‘crisis’ in the first place?

 As part of the Arts Semester in Prato program, 44 students from Monash’s campuses in Australia and Malaysia examined these questions during the four-week unit The European Union from Consensus to Crisis.

Design Scenarios for the Imagined Museum

Monash Art Design and Architecture students recently had the opportunity to present their work at the Centro Pecci in Prato, one of the major contemporary art centres in Italy, in the presence of the Pecci’s director Cristiana Perrella. Students presented their experimental design concepts for The Imagined Museum (Il Museo Immaginato) that they had developed as part of the Culturescape programme at the Monash Prato Centre. During their time in Prato, the students investigated current opportunities and futuristic visions of the museum.

An Inspirational Internship

In October, Monash Bachelor of Arts and Secondary Education student, Stephanie Mouradian, undertook a four-week internship at a local secondary school in Prato, the ITIS Tullio Buzzi. Stephanie was welcomed as an English Language and Art Teaching Assistant, teaching five classes each week alongside professional teaching staff.
