A number of our research projects in this area focus on issues pertinent to Prato.
Prato is among Italy's most multicultural and diverse cities, and it has one of the largest populations of Chinese migrants in Europe.
Chinese in Prato Symposia
The purpose of these symposia is to feature academic work and local initiatives on the Chinese in Prato to contribute to knowledge and understanding of the migrant experience.
Established in 2007, these symposia have been held in alternate years here and at Wenzhou University in China.
The 6th Global Wenzhouese International Symposium will be held 25-27 November 2016 at Wenzhou University in China. The symposium is being jointly hosted by the Research Center of the Global Wenzhouese, Wenzhouese Economy Research Institute, Wenzhou Public Diplomacy Association and Wenzhou University.

Previous symposia have resulted in publication outcomes in English, Italian and Chinese. The most recent publication is Chinese Migration to Europe: Prato, Italy, and Beyond, edited by Loretta Baldassar, Graeme Johanson, Narelle McAuliffe and Massimo Bressan, and published by Palgrave Macmillan in May 2015.
