1,600 visitors turn out to discover the secrets of Palazzo Vai

A succcess measured in terms of 1600 registered visitors to the extraordinary opening of Palazzo Vai on 20-21 March 2015.

The extraordinary opening of Palazzo Vai on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 March 2015 was an overwhelming succcess with 1600 registered visitors over the two days.  Le Giornate FAI di Primavera, a national annual initiative aimed at the preservation of Italy's artistic and cultural heritage, attracted an enthusiastic public many of whom were able to visit for the first time areas of the palazzo not normally open to the public including the deconsecrated church of Saint George, the former gaming rooms and entertaining spaces on the first floor as well as a private corr

Extraordinary opening of Palazzo Vai

On 21-22 March 2015 the Monash Prato Centre will open its doors to the public on the occasion of the "Giornate di Primavera".

Giornate di Primavera is a special annual event organised by FAI, Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano, the National Trust of Italy. It is a non profit-organisation whose purpose is to protect and enhance Italy's natural and artistic heritage.

During this special event, scheduled on the first days of spring (21 and 22 March), historical buildings which are usually closed to the public are open. The Monash Prato Centre has adhered to this initiative by opening the doors of Palazzo Vai, considered one of Prato's most prestigious private buildings.

Pratomusei card launch

A new initiative to enhance the city's cultural offering

The Monash Prato Centre is delighted to host the press conference for the launch of the new Pratomusei card on 19 March.

Possessors of the card will have unlimited access to the four principal museums of the city - the Pecci Centre for Contemporary Art, the Textile Museum, Palazzo Pretorio Museum and Musei Diocesani - as well as free use of public buses and discounted rates at selected hotels, restaurants and businesses.

This initiative will be launched at the presence of the mayor of Prato, city councillors and representatives of all the partners involved in the project.

Teaching in Prato: a life changing experience

An official welcome to one of the most successful Monash programs in Prato

In January 2015, the Mayor of Prato, Matteo Biffoni, and the Australian Ambassador to Italy, the Honourable Mike Rann, welcomed to the city of Prato the first group of Monash students from the Faculty of Education before they started their school placements.  This special event was held in the Sala Consiliare at the Comune di Prato​, in the presence of more than one hundred local students and teachers​, who were keen to meet ​our students and start working with them.

Second round scholarship applications now open

The Italian Services Institute is offering up to 10 scholarships valued at $4000 each for eligible Monash students who plan to study in Italy in 2015.
Eligible Monash students are now able to apply through second round offers for a travel bursary to study at the Monash Prato Centre, Italy, in 2015, thanks to a donation by the Italian Services Institute.

The Monash University Prato Centre will be closed on the following dates over the Christmas-New Year festive period:
