The Monash Prato Homestay Program

Living with a host family is a great opportunity to make your study abroad experience more well-rounded, enjoyable, and even life-changing. This is why we started the Monash Prato Homestay Program in 2017.

So far this year four students from Monash Law and the Monash Business School have taken part in the Homestay Program, experiencing life with a local family in Prato, becoming part of the family’s everyday life, learning more about Italian culture (and some Italian language!) and sharing their culture with the family in return.

Renee, a student from the Monash Business School who was in Prato for four weeks in July this year for the Corporate Social Responsibility unit, shared this about her homestay experience:

“My four-week stay with my Prato host family provided a unique opportunity to embrace Italian culture. The family were incredibly welcoming and kind; they were eager to help me learn Italian and teach me to cook traditional Tuscan cuisine! The homestay program allowed me to develop a new appreciation for intercultural competence and it made my Prato study experience a truly unforgettable one.”

All Monash students who are enrolled in a program at Prato have the opportunity to apply for the Homestay Program. You can find out how on our Homestay Program webpage.

If you’re a family in Prato and you’d like to host a Monash student, we’d welcome your interest. You can find more information on the Programma homestay webpage.
