About 100 alumni, staff and friends gathered for the third edition of the annual Monash Prato Alumni Lavazza Italian Film Festival Event on Friday 11 October 2019.

We enjoyed spending time with Monash Prato Alumni at Palace Cinema Como in South Yarra (Melbourne) during the Lavazza Italian Film Festival.

Prato alumni, staff and friends caught up over an aperitivo before a private screening of the comedy Ti presento Sofia (Let me introduce you to Sofia).

“It is always inspiring to meet Monash Prato Alumni and to find out where their Prato study experience has taken them since graduating from Monash,” said Dr Cecilia Hewlett, Director of the Monash University Prato Centre.

Alumni who had studied in Prato as far back as 2003 and as recently as 2018 took the opportunity to reunite with their fellow Prato alumni at our annual event.

Prato alumni also had the opportunity to find out what is new at the Monash Prato Centre including hearing about the launch of Monash Arts’ Global Immersion Guarantee Italy program, the Rotary Club of Brunswick-Tullamarine’s donation for a travel grant for an Indigenous student to study in Prato, and Monash Arts’ inaugural post-doctoral fellowship based in Prato.

Three lucky guests received exclusive Monash Prato merchandise or a copy of The Italian Garden: Restoring a Renaissance Garden in Tuscany as door prizes. The book tells the story of the creation of the Palazzo Vaj Garden at the Monash Prato Centre and was published by Thames & Hudson in April 2018.

We are already looking forward to next year’s event! Each year we invite all Monash Prato Alumni who live in Victoria and are contactable by email. To receive an invitation, Monash Prato Alumni should make sure that they keep their contact details up-to-date via the Monash website.
