The First International Conference of Cultural Linguistics

The 1st ICCL a great success.

The First International Conference of Cultural Linguistics took place at the Monash University Prato Centre from July 20-22, 2016. It constituted the inaugural conference of a series of national and international conferences of Cultural Linguistics in the years to come. More than 100 participants from over 33 countries and from 5 continents helped to make the 1st ICCL a great success and milestone establishing Cultural Linguistics as an independent field of linguistic enquiry. The plenaries featured Farzad Sharifian, Gary Palmer, Ning Yu, Zoltan Kövecses, and Roslyn Frank, leading figures in the development of Cultural Linguistics. As numerous post-conference emails received by the organizing committee document, the working environment of Monash Campus, Prato, paired with Italian hospitality and a mediterranean atmosphere proved to be highly conducive to intellectual exchange and networking.
