Visit by Professor Margaret Gardner AO

Monash University President and Vice-Chancellor Professor Margaret Gardner visits the Monash Prato Centre.

On 7 and 8 May 2015 Professor Margaret Gardner, President and Vice-Chancellor of Monash University, made her first visit to the University's Prato Centre in Italy.

Part of a trip which included meeting Monash alumni in New York, San Francisco, London and Shanghai, Professor Gardner took the opportunity to visit the Prato Centre and explore the ways in which it could be used to facilitate even deeper engagement with Europe.

During her visit, Professor Gardner met Law students studying in the International Study Program as well as a group of local students from the Scuola Mazzoni, one of the Centre's key partners for the Faculty of Education Placement Program. She also made visits to key institutions in Prato, including the local government and Pin, the University of Florence's Prato campus, while in Florence she met with the Director of Villa I Tatti, The Harvard Center for Italian Renaissance Studies.

The Monash Prato Centre plays an integral role in shaping the university's distinct international profile.  It contributes to building the strength, networks and scale of the University's international research and education through its breadth of programs, as outlined in Focus Monash, Strategic Plan 2015-2020.
