Opening of Visual Residency Program 2013: David Rosetzky Visual Resident

On Friday 13 September the 2013 Visual Residency Program officially opened with the arrival of Australian visual artist David Rosetzky.  The program is a collaborative initiative between the Monash University Prato Centre and MADA (Monash Faculty of Art Design and Architecture). Following an introduction of the artist by Prof Callum Morton, Head of the Department of Fine Arts, Rosetzky presented a brief overview of his work to MADA students, teaching staff and to the local community, which included a screening of one of his most recent videos, Half Brother.  The Visual Residency program, first established in 2010, was introduced by Dr Cecilia Hewlett, director of Monash Prato Centre and Emeritus Professor Bernard Hoffert who spoke about the well-established ties between the two institutions. David Rosetzky will be resident in Prato from September to November and in addition to interacting with the students he will have the opportunity to engage with local institutions and industry. A final exhibition will be held towards the end of his residency.
