Woolmark sponsors new Prato study scholarship

We are delighted to announce that The Woolmark Company is sponsoring a new scholarship to support Monash students to study in Prato, Italy.

The Woolmark Company Prato Study Scholarship is designed to support students to further their academic development at the Monash Prato Centre and includes an Industry Experience coordinated by the Woolmark Company in Milan, Italy. It offers a unique opportunity to tour Woolmark allied creative industries especially the textile industry in Milan.

There are two $5,000 scholarships available for study in Prato in 2017-2018. Applications are due 5pm 7 July 2017.

The scholarship is open to students from the following faculties:

Monash Open Day 2017: a celebration for the city of Prato

Great success for the 2017 edition of Monash Open Day at the Monash Prato Centre with around 1000 people attending the event.

Australian, American and Italian students, families, high school students, kids and local community members contributed to the success of this wonderful day of celebration, now in its 7th edition. Participants took part in a very lively Speedy Conversation Exchange and then enjoyed a traditional Aussie BBQ, delicious Italian gelato and great live music.

Welcome to the 2017 Law Prato Program Students!

The Monash Prato Centre welcomes students participating in this year's Monash Law Prato Program.

The program – which starts on Monday 3 April – will give the 171 students enrolled the possibility to select from fifteen units on offer with the benefit of teaching expertise of professors from across the globe.  The Monash Law Prato Program offers in fact the unique opportunity to study in an international environment, with students and professors from Universities such as York and Windsor (Canada), Bar Ilan (Israel), Verona and Florence (Italy), Paris Sud (France), and Arizona State (USA).

Wesley College European Music Tour 2017

58-member music ensemble from Wesley College to perform at Monash Prato

Music students from the Wesley College European Tour Ensemble are returning to the Monash University Prato Centre to delight us once again with their lively jazz and popular music tunes. The 58-member ensemble from Wesley College, an Australian independent secondary school in Melbourne, will be touring Italy from Rome through to Milan, with patronage from The Australian Embassy in Rome.

A new website for the City of Prato

The new City of Prato website, launched earlier this month, shines a new light on Prato, uncovering and presenting the many diverse aspects of this unique city.

The website, promoted by the Comune di Prato (Prato Municipality), comes as a result of the participatory effort “Prato si fa Brand” which asked individual citizens and associations to help define what makes Prato special. 

Chisholm Catholic College 2017 study tour to Italy

A truly authentic Italian experience with lasting memories!

On the morning of 16 January, twenty-five eager Year 11 and 12 students from Chisholm Catholic College, Perth WA, arrived at the Monash Prato Centre for a three-day course in Italian language and culture. Before leaving Australia, the students had already formed virtual friendships with students from a local high school, so when they first arrived in Prato they were already familiar with daily life in the city.

Future teachers program wins award

The Monash University Faculty of Education’s International Professional Experience team recently won a prestigious Vice-Chancellor’s Award in the category for ‘programs that enhance learning’.

Each year 230 Monash students who are studying to become teachers complete some of their professional experience overseas. One of the places where this program runs is here in Prato.
