Study Abroad in Italy Program - University of Hartford
From Italic and Latin settlements to Imperial Rome, from the roots of institutional Christianity to Early Renaissance Florence and High Renaissance Rome, this study trip explores contexts of the Mediterranean heritage. We will examine the history, culture, art and dramatic literature of the Italian peninsula, through reading, lectures, and visits to sites in Rome, Florence, Siena and Prato, Italy. The study will include courses that examine theatricality and theater practice in Italian culture from the Roman era through the Renaissance and 18th Century. Students will explore the issue of theatricality in the rich artistic and literary culture of Italy in various historical periods. At the same time they will experience the vibrant culture of modern-day Tuscany.
